The first thing you must consider before buying a fireplace is the level of safety it would provide you. The outdoor fireplaces come in various materials and sizes. It is therefore very important to have a thorough understanding about the various kinds of fireplaces before settling for one.
Fireplaces are mainly available in clay, aluminum, or cast iron. Aluminum and, cast iron are relatively more expensive than clay. However, it is a much better idea to install fireplaces made out of them instead of clay. Clay fireplaces usually have very low durability. So you should not be surprised if one fine day you find it split into pieces due to the high temperature within.
Moreover, clay fireplaces pass on the heat very easily to its neighboring surfaces. This means that you always run the risk of damaging the mantelpiece.
